The Montanan, the award-winning magazine of the University of Montana, is published three times a year
and distributed to more than 100,000 households of alumni, friends, and supporters throughout the state,
nation, and world. The magazine informs readers about what’s going on at the University and inspires
loyalty that will keep alumni and friends connected to UM their entire lives. Every edition includes a campus
feature, an alumni profile, and a trend piece that delves into the arts, entertainment, business, music,
or sports. In addition, the magazine also includes campus news in “Around the Oval,” updates from our

The Montanan is proud to have more than 114,000 subscribers and about 250,000 readers per issue.

Delivered to more than 100,000 households, 85% of these households in the Northwest, and over half live
in Montana. With new graduates added each year, the readership continually grows. It is published in February,
May, and September.
Because Montanan is mailed to homes and offices of UM grads, most are in their early to prime earning years.
Montanan readers take pride in their University and have an inherent interest in the state, its businesses,
products and services.
