Restoring the Shining Waters: Superfund Success at Milltown, Montana

Modern-day Missoula residents know the familiar “Remove the dam, restore the river” as a bumper sticker. It also stands for a goal and an accomplishment brought about by localcitizens— environmentalists, university scientists, health officials, water quality specialists,business and political leaders, and just regular people—who knew that the solution to restoringthe Clark Fork River and its post-mining Superfund site was removing the Milltown Dam.
