One reviewer called this new novel “its own weird and wonderful creation,” an apt description of a story about a daughter – stitched together from body pieces of her former self and others – created by a grieving scientist father. Laurie Blauner uses the Frankenstein-like metaphor to look closely at creation, the consequences of ethical and emotional decisions, “natural” life and death. She earned an M.F.A. in creative writing at UM and is the author of three previous novels and seven books of poetry.
